A Travel Guide to Estepona
Estepona is just forty minutes drive from Malaga airport on the Costa del Sol towards Gibraltar. The town was once a small fishing village but is now a major tourist area with a fine selection of shops, bars, restaurants and beaches.
It is still possible to visit the old town with its narrow cobbled streets just behind the new promenade. There is a large variety of shops including an out of town style shopping centre and on Wednesday and Sunday mornings there is a large market selling all kinds of food, clothing and gifts.
Estepona has over twenty kilometres of coast with many sandy beaches and shallow coves perfect for swimming and sunbathing. A lot of the beaches have excellent beach bars that cater for all tastes but specialise in fresh fish caught that day.
The fishing harbour and marina are a short distance from the centre, where there is a variety of restaurants and also a selection of holiday apartments with views over the marina, the Mediterranean and across to North Africa.
There is plenty of entertainment in Estepona and Puerto Banus, the centre of nightlife on the Costa del Sol, is only a short taxi ride away.
There is a wide variety of self catering holiday accommodation in Estepona from holiday apartments overlooking the marina and the beach to large villas on the hillside behind Estepona or on the local golf course.
