A Travel Guide to Moraira
In between Valencia and Alicante on the Costa Blanca in Spain sits the small, tranquil town of Moraira. This town takes pride in its 8 kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches and the news about the stunning beauty of this town has spread all over Europe in recent times, which has made Moraira one of the most visited towns in whole of the Costa Blanca.
There are numerous popular beaches in Moraira most of them are golden sand but a few are rocky and difficult to reach. Playa del Portet is just to the north of Moraira and with its clear water and golden sand is ideal for swimming. Most of the beaches have beach bars and restaurants providing good food.
Moraira was once a famous fishing village and the most popular in the entire Costa Blanca Region. This is still evident in the modern day living of the people of Moraira as many of them are still venturing into fishing and related trades. However, most of the town’s recent earnings are brought about by its booming tourism sector.
In July a statue of the Patron Saint Virgin of Carmen who is reputed to protect the fishermen and sailors is carried through the streets and taken out onto the water floating amongst large numbers of flowers.
Thousands of hectares of vineyard plantations of Muscatel grapes are cultivated in the outskirts of the city that are carefully worked on to make them one of the best sparkling wines in the whole of Europe. Authentic Spanish delicacies such as Paella Valenciana, Fideua, and Arroz a Banda are the famous dishes that are served by a number of its world class restaurants. Sea food specialties are also hard to resist when in Moraira. It is hard to say no to gambas, shrimps, tuna and seashell menus, as these are some of the most requested specialties by local and foreign tourists while dining in the city.
Sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, gastronomic specialties, perfect weather and warm hospitality are the outstanding characteristics of this small town.
